Patrani Macchi is a popular Parsi dish that calls for steaming chutney coated fish in banana leaves.
The combination of herbs in the chutney, the use of fish and the method of preparing it make it an incredibly healthy dish.
Serve patrani macchi as a starter or with plain rice as a main course.
Steaming Fish
Parsi style steamed fish.
Ingredients

banana leaves
1kg
white fishsliced or whole
1
lemonjuiced
3/4tsp
Salt
For the chutney
1
Coconutgrated
6
green chillies
50grams
coriander leaves and stems
1tbsp
Mint leaves
1tsp
ground cumin seeds
1tsp
sugar
salt to taste
Instructions

Grind all the ingredients for the chutney together until a smooth paste is formed.

Mix the lime juice and salt together.

Marinate the fish in this mixture for half an hour.

Coat the fish in the chutney and then wrap it in banana leaves.

Enclose the banana leaves with string.

Steam the fish for 10-15 minutes.
